Master's Degree Resource Archaeology and Archaeometry



The Master's degree programme in Resource Archaeology and Archaeometry can only be studied in a 1-subject model.

This degree programme is suitable for graduates of the following subjects: archaeology, history and several cultural studies subjects.

Start: Winter and summer semester

Duration: 4 semesters

Language of instruction: German and English

Admission: not restricted

Admission requirements: compulsory counselling interview with the responsible academic advisor prior to enrolment/re-enrolment, knowledge of Latin and knowledge of two modern foreign languages. One of these should be English, the second another academically relevant foreign language.

the skills acquired in an archaeological or natural science B.A. degree programme are deepened through individual specialisation in the field of resource archaeology and archaeometry. Strong professional practice with co-operating institutions contributes to training at a scientific level.

  • in-depth study of cultural-historical contexts using the example of ancient cultures
  • archaeological professions (research institutions)

  • the willingness to independently research groups of monuments and to read numerous specialised texts,
  • the ability to present specialised content in oral and written form,

A work placement is part of the curriculum. Duration: at least 4 weeks

A stay abroad is recommended. It is completed in the 2nd-3rd semester. Duration: 1-2 semesters.
Partner universities: Numerous partner universities and institutes in Germany and abroad offer the opportunity to study abroad and change universities during the degree programme.
